Mini Biography:

Gerard Butler born to Margaret and Edward Butler in Glasgow, Scotland, he was brought up in his mother's hometown of Paisley, Scotland along with his  brother and sister .In his childhood only his parents were divorced & he and his brother& sister  were brought up by their mother, who later remarried. After completion of his high school education he went to Glasgow University & joined in LLB Degrees to become a lawyer/solicitor in future. He was an extrovert since his childhood & used to get involved in social activities, which had blossomed by this time & propelled him to become a president of the school's law society.


During his graduation, his intuitions used to induce him to think to begin his career in acting simultaneously. Once it so happened that he met with a person in a London coffee shop, he was no one other than the actor Steven Berkoff got impressed with Butler’s personality who had offered him a role alongside in Attila (2001/I) (TV)), & also offered him a role in the play "Coriolanus", and this had resulted into leave his graduation in half way.


In later years he had got a cast as Ewan McGregor's character to be played on stage as adaptation of Trainspotting (1996). His first  film was Billy Connolly's younger brother in _Mrs. Brown (1997).


Butler started his  film career  with small roles in the James Bond movies Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) and Russell Mulcahy's Tale of the Mummy (1998) etc. Butler had casted  his breakthrough roles in his first film Attila the Hun in the USA film Attila (2001/I) (TV). This TV movie got second highest rating which bagged numerous fans for Butler & he therefore generated his Internet sites & his fans lists had started popping up everywhere. Then he had acted in Wes Craven's new take on the Dracula legacy. It was the utmost liked TV movie for younger generations.

After Butler’s great success in TV movies he was offered several films, to name a few are  Reign of Fire (2002) as Creedy and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003) as Terry Sheridan, alongside Angelina Jolie etc.
The role that had excelled his acting & earned much attention as well for  both audiences  and movie makers was that of Andre Marek in the big-screen adaptation of Michael Crichton's novel Timeline (2003) [In this film  Butler had acted as  an archaeologist who was sent to rescue a colleague with a team of students ] Next year he had  acted in Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical The Phantom of the Opera (2004), played as an actor for  the title character in the successful adaptation of the stage musicals and he had garnered an international fame. His other projects were Dear Frankie (2004), The Game of Their Lives (2005) and Beowulf & Grendel (2005).

In 2007,Butler had starred as Spartan King Leonidas in the Warner Bros. production 300 (2006), was based on the Frank Miller graphic novel, and Butterfly on a Wheel (2007) co-starring in Pierce Brosnan and Maria Bello. This had been aired on network TV under the title Shattered earned a great success & a big fame. Recently he had starred in P.S. I Love You (2007) with Academy Award-winner Hilary Swank. His few new films were scheduled as the new Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor film Game (2009) was completed in Jan2008, & his Nim's Island (2008) was released on April 4, 2008 and RocknRolla (2008) was released on October 2008, The Ugly Truth (2009) co-starring Katherine Heigl was about to shoot by April 2008
